Style & Details
Our indian kantha jacket is reversible, so you get two looks in one. One side shows off bold patchwork and visible stitching. Flip it, and the other side offers a more subtle design. Both are beautiful.
Two deep front pockets keep things practical. Fold back the sleeves to reveal a surprise lining – each one stitched with a different story. Every detail highlights the care and history in each quilt.
The Kantha Story
Indian Kantha jackets are made from vintage saris, layered and stitched by hand. These quilts come from women in India who turn old cloth into something new. The result? A jacket full of soul, colour, and quiet strength.
Why It Matters
We make each jacket in small batches. That means less waste and more intention. From the first stitch to the final shape, everything is done with care.
Wrap yourself in something real. This isn’t just a jacket. It’s a story you can wear.

KANTHA JACKET STORY
Kantha stitching began over 500 years ago in Eastern India, especially in Bengal, as a practical way to reuse worn-out textiles. Women layered old saris, dhotis, and household cloths, then stitched them together by hand to create quilts that added both warmth and comfort to daily life.
Rather than throwing fabric away, they gave it new purpose – salvaging even the threads from other garments to complete the embroidery. Every piece of kantha reflects this mindful, hands-on approach. Each stitch carries a story, rooted in tradition and shaped by necessity, turning simple cloth into something lasting and meaningful.
What is Kantha Stitching?
Kantha stitching is a centuries-old embroidery tradition from Eastern India, particularly Bengal. With roots over 500 years deep, it began as a way to recycle worn-out saris, dhotis, and household cloths – layered and hand-stitched into quilts for warmth and everyday use.
Each stitch tells a story. Even the threads were often pulled from old textiles, making kantha an early form of upcycling – both resourceful and deeply personal.
