The Story Behind Our  Wool Waistcoat

The craftsmanship of our wool waistcoat is a testament to the dedication and skill of artisans in Rudrapur, India. Each waistcoat is lovingly crafted from off-cuts of our handwoven shankor blanket jackets, ensuring that no two pieces are the same. This unique technique not only highlights the individuality of every waistcoat but also ensures our commitment to sustainability.

By utilising these off-cuts, we minimise waste and embrace a more environmentally responsible approach to fashion.

Each wool waistcoat is made from 100% handwoven wool, a material that boasts inherent durability and natural properties. Wool is renowned for its breathability, moisture-wicking ability, and warmth, making it an ideal choice for versatile winter wear. The unique texture and natural insulation provided by wool contribute to the comfort and longevity of our waistcoats, ensuring they remain a staple in your wardrobe for years to come.

The artisans involved in this meticulous weaving process are not just skilled labourers; they are guardians of traditional crafting techniques that have been passed down through generations. Each pick in the weave reflects their expertise and dedication, resulting in a finished product that embodies both artistry and function. This connection to human craftsmanship enhances the value of our wool waistcoats, as wearers can appreciate the time, effort, and passion that goes into creating each one.

By choosing our wool waistcoat, you are not only investing in a unique piece of clothing but also supporting sustainable practices and the livelihoods of talented people. The excellent craftsmanship and responsible sourcing of materials ensure that each waistcoat is both a statement and a conscious choice for the environmentally-aware customer.

Styling and Caring for Your Wool Waistcoat

The waistcoat is a versatile piece that seamlessly moves from casual outings to outdoor adventures. Its boxy fit allows for easy layering, making it an ideal choice for winter wear. For a relaxed look during a leisurely dog walk, pair the waistcoat with a simple turtleneck sweater and your favourite jeans. This combination not only keeps you warm but also showcases the waistcoat’s unique design and texture. When moving towards a more rugged outing, like a camping trip, layering the waistcoat over a thermal base layer and a long-sleeved shirt can provide both comfort and style.

In terms of functionality, the wool waistcoat is designed with practical features that set it apart. The roomy front patch pockets offer space to store essentials like keys or your phone, while the natural coconut husk buttons add a touch of rustic charm. This thoughtful design ensures that you remain both stylish and practical.

Wool is renowned for its durability and low-maintenance characteristics, making it an excellent choice for winter apparel.

Versatile Comfort

Woollen waistcoats are a must-have for any wardrobe. They combine style and practicality, making them suitable for a variety of occasions, from casual walks to outdoor adventures. Wool’s natural qualities, like warmth and moisture-wicking, make these waistcoats comfortable in every season.

The collarless design makes layering easy. Pair your waistcoat with shirts, dresses, or even wear it under a jacket. It works for any climate. Roomy pockets add convenience, letting you carry essentials without sacrificing style.

Thoughtful details, such as natural coconut husk buttons and contrast cotton piping, add charm and elevate the design. These touches make each waistcoat stand out, blending function with timeless style.

Caring for Your Woollen Waistcoat: Simple Tips for Longevity

Taking care of your woollen waistcoat is easier than you might think. Wool is a natural, self-cleaning fiber, which means it doesn’t need frequent washing or dry cleaning. Instead, follow these simple care tips to keep your waistcoat fresh and looking its best.

Air It Out

Wool has a natural ability to deodorise and refresh itself when exposed to air. After wearing your waistcoat, simply hang it on a sturdy hanger in a well-ventilated area. This allows the fabric to release any trapped odours and stay fresh without washing.

Spot Clean When Needed

For small spills or stains, spot clean your waistcoat with a damp cloth or sponge and mild non bio detergent. Gently blot the area instead of scrubbing to avoid damaging the fibers. This method keeps your waistcoat clean without subjecting it to unnecessary wear and tear.

Skip the Wash and Dry Cleaning

There’s no need to wash or dry clean your waistcoat regularly. Washing can be hard on wool fibers, while dry cleaning involves harsh chemicals that can strip away natural wool oils. By relying on spot cleaning and airing, you’ll preserve the fabric’s durability and appearance.

Store Properly

When you’re not wearing your wool waistcoat, hang it on a good-quality hanger to maintain its shape. Avoid overcrowding your wardrobe to allow the fabric to breathe. For long-term storage, consider placing it in a breathable garment bag to protect it from dust and moths.

By following these simple steps, you’ll extend the life of your wool waistcoat, keeping it fresh, functional, and beautiful for years to come.
