10 Years of Indigowares

10 YEARS OF INDIGOWARES

I honestly can’t believe I’m writing that.

I started Indigowares because I wanted — and needed — to create a little corner of the world where natural colour, pattern and craft could be celebrated. And I wanted you to be part of it.

In the beginning, it was just me. I was trying hard to stay true to my craft, make something I believed in and support my young family along the way. I didn’t know exactly what Indigowares would become. I just knew the things I cared about and wanted to build something around them.

Natural indigo was a huge part of that.

I’ve always been fascinated by it: the plant itself, that extraordinary colour, the dyeing process and the generations of knowledge behind it. As Indigowares grew, I wanted to celebrate not only the finished pieces, but the people, processes and skills that make them possible.

I dreamt of one day block printing in India. I wanted to work alongside skilled artisans and champion the traditional arts of pattern making, printing and dyeing that had inspired me so much.

And slowly, that dream has become real.

Today, we work with incredible talent here and in India to create our textiles and clothing using hand block printing, natural dyeing, handwoven fabrics and vintage kantha. Every technique brings its own history, character and human touch to the things we make.

That matters enormously to me. Because for me, it’s about more than making clothes.

I want you to know who made your clothes and how they were made. I want the slight variations, the marks of the hand and the character of traditional processes to be things we celebrate rather than hide.

It’s about helping to keep extraordinary pattern-making, weaving and dyeing techniques alive. It’s about supporting skilled hands. And it’s about creating a community around a shared love of textiles, colour, pattern and things made with care.

And that brings me to perhaps the most important part of the last ten years: you.

I genuinely couldn’t have made Indigowares work without the people who have supported it. Every order has mattered. So has every message, every kind word, every recommendation to a friend and every time someone has come back to see what I’ve been making next.

When you choose something from Indigowares, you’re doing much more than buying a piece of clothing or a textile. You’re helping this little corner of the world continue. You’re allowing me to keep working with craftspeople whose skills deserve to be valued, and to keep exploring the colours, patterns and processes that started all of this in the first place.

Ten years on, there are plenty of things that have changed. But lots of things remain: I’m still learning. Still experimenting. Still completely obsessed with colour and pattern. Still excited by what can happen when beautiful materials meet skilled hands.

And I’m still trying to make better, not more.

If you’ve bought something, worn something, sent a message, followed along quietly or only just discovered Indigowares, thank you for being here.

Thank you for being here. 💙 Here’s to the next chapter of Indigowares.
