Each jacket is crafted from unbleached linen. We chose linen because it is one of the most kindest crops to the earth . It needs very little water (compared to thirsty cotton crops) and also very few pesticides. It is also much more of a durable fibre than cotton and so should have much more longevity when used to make a piece of clothing. Linen also dyes beautifully especially with natural indigo and washes well.
Our linen was dipped 8 times into a natural sugar and tamarind indigo vat. Once the indigo dyed linen was fully rinsed and dried it was then passed into to be embroidered with the cross crosses.
